We Stand Against Antisemitism

It is time to act!  The horror of recent antisemitic attacks (Pittsburgh, San Diego, Germany and the barrage of missiles against Israel) and the rapidly growing number of antisemitic incidents in Canada show us that we need to stand up and oppose this growing hatred of Jewish people that is on the rise in North America and in many other parts of the globe.

We must call upon the Government of Canada to put an end to the antisemitism that is growing especially on our university and college campuses, social media and in our schools.

We must oppose antisemitism and keep the Jewish people safe.  As Martin Niemoller famously said:

… Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

Please stand with us and the Canadian Jewish community so that we can condemn antisemitism with one strong voice.  We cannot allow acts of hate to continue in our country!

A Petition to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to Stand Up for Israel and the Jewish People

Dear Prime Minister Trudeau,

We are writing to express our deep concern for the rise of antisemitism in Canada. As Jews and Christians, we find this to be especially disturbing as we believe the teaching of the Bible, penned by our Jewish spiritual forefathers, forms the very bedrock of the Canadian values we cherish.

Antisemitism is not merely racism, though this would be cause enough for our concerns; antisemitism also strikes at the very core of our faith and belief that the Jewish people are important to our country and to God Himself!

We want to see antisemitism disappear altogether from this world, but we need to start in our own backyard!

According to the 2018 Annual Audit of Antisemitic Incidents, produced by B’nai Brith Canada’s advocacy arm, the League for Human Rights, they have recorded 2,041 incidents of antisemitism, a 16.5% increase over 2017. 1

We commend the Liberal Party for taking action regarding those who hold antisemitic views within its ranks or are associated with the Party, and trust this vigilance will continue.

As concerned citizens of Canada, we will continue to pray for you and your duty to protect all Canadian citizens and residents, including Jewish-Canadians. We urge you to demonstrate your position against antisemitism with actions that will send a clear message to the world that Canada stands with her ally, the State of Israel.  We urge you to take action to ensure that antisemitism is not tolerated in Canada.

Antisemitism is a blight on the reputation of our country as a place of freedom and peace. We are asking you as the leader of our country to see to it that we STOP ANTISEMITISM NOW!
